Arlana Moore’s Sentence Commuted

On October 6, 2016, President Obama commuted the sentences of 102 prisoners, including Arlana Moore:

Drug War Stories recently featured Arlana’s story.  We immediately reached out to Arlana on hearing the happy news, and she responded to us only an hour after hearing about her clemency herself!

I’m so happy, I found out an hour ago because another inmate told me she thought my name was on the latest clemency updates, and then she showed it to me! I couldn’t believe it – its like a dream come true, after living in a nightmare of anxiety and worry and obsession about my sentence. I lived, breathed, and hoped for this all year, and even would visualize my grocery list, trying to imagine what it would feel I know! Thank you for helping me put the story out there; I’m so grateful for people like you!! I guess my family heard it on the local news and internet..we are all thrilled beyond belief!

We are thrilled at this great news, and wish Arlana and her family the best!
